TAVY A, who have not enjoyed one of the best starts to the season in the Tavistock Snooker League, pulled off a real moral boosting 4-1 victory at top of the table West Devon A.
Rob Heathman was no match for a rampant Evans, who with a 22 break soon took the first frame for Tavy A.
The return of ‘playmaker’ Monk from the snooker wilderness, proved inspirational for Tavy A as he proceeded to take out West Devon’s dangerous Colin Heathman.
Dent secured the match for Tavy A as he went on a potting spree with breaks of 32 and 20 from which Morris did not recover.
This season’s surprise package Dolan made it four for Tavy A as he continued his good run of form, before Kevin Rich pulled a consolation frame back for West Devon with a classy, season’s best, break of 58.
If anyone thought TavyA were not in the running this season, look again.
Despite only having four players, Golf A went to bottom of the table West Devon D and came away with all four points.
Whitley gave Golf A the lead with a steady win over West Devon D skipper Murton, backed up by an ‘on fire’ Pope with his 27 break demolishing his opponent Shrimpton (senior).
Barry Williams for West Devon gave it his best shot but was pipped to the post by a resurgent Wylie.
Golf A’s Turnbull secured the four points for his team with a comfortable win over an ‘out of sorts’ Decieco.
These are tough times at the moment for West Devon D, with Golf A steadily making up ground.
In his debut game for Conservative Z team, Lillicrap (junior) performed admirably against Conservative C’s Cleave showing his potential worth to his team, and gaining them their first point of the evening.
Symons, however, faced his old team mate Hall in a somewhat one sided affair, Hall has proved his worth to the Con C team, with four straight wins out of four this season.
Bassett faced Mayors of Con Z team in a tense and tight game which could have gone either way but Mayors held his nerve and eventually took the frame.
McKechnie (senior) for the Z team failed to capitalise on the situation, missing chances and slipped behind to Neale who played superbly to take McKechnie out of the equation.
Both teams were on equal footing at this stage and the pressure was on Jago for Con C team against Lillicrap (senior). Jago played a fine game, but it was not sufficient to overhaul Lillicrap who maintained his composure till the end to take the point and the game, thereby inflicting the first defeat of the season on the C team.
