Tavistock ladies 7

Bodmin ladies 1

TAVISTOCK Ladies continued their dominant hockey season this week with their home draw against Bodmin.

Within five minutes Tavistock were on the scoreboard with a firm strike from striker Abi Hall. However, Bodmin were sharp on the break and kept the defence of Evans, Patterson and Colston on their toes for the opening 20 minutes. Stand in keeper Eleanor Mills-Hicks having to make an early save.

Midfielders Martin, Honey, Armstrong and Bruna soon worked together to pressure the Bodmin defence. A short corner was awarded that was converted by Abi Hall.

Bodmin were straight back on the attack and broke through to make it 2-1 before Tavistock took this as a catalyst to step up their play and scored a further two goals making it 4-1 at half time.

More end to end play continued in the second half. A superb goal for Tavistock followed a series of passes from Lamb, to Honey who crossed the ball in to Jo Gaspar who converted.

Bodmin's central players worked to break down Tavistock's possession game but a further goal came from captain Armstrong on the reverse stick. 6-1 to Tavistock.

The final goal came from striker Hall again who dummied the keeper and struck the ball in to seal a convincing win for Tavistock.

This week is Tavistock's final match, home against Camborne School of Mines, if they secure the win, it will be promotion to South Division for the Tavistock girls.
