FOUR Tavistock Athletic Club runners ventured across the county border for Sunday's Magnificent Seven race at Saltash.

The race was in its eighteenth year and the hills and miles still did not disappoint – one of the toughest road races in the area.

Almost 400 runners took part – with the race being part of the Armada Athletics Grand Prix and also the Cornish Grand Prix.

Running almost a minute and half quicker than last year Neil Barkell from Tavistock took third place overall in 40 minutes 04 seconds – exceptional running for the seven mile course.

Next in for Tavistock club was Martin Exley-Deane in 19th overall, and comfortably picking up another first place for his category (44.11). Peter Bazley finished in 92nd in 51.59 seconds and Becca Exley-Deane was next home in 218th and just outside the hour in 1.03.04 .
