Okehampton ladies seconds 1
Torbay ladies 0
ALTHOUGH the scoreline suggests otherwise, Okehampton ladies were comfortably on top in this match.
Good running off the ball from their forwards Rachel Adams, Annabelle Rademaker and Alex Collins created space and caused problems for the Torbay defence. Oke made the breakthrough early on when the ball fell to Adams, after a good passing move involving Ailsa Gibb and Anna Speak on the right, and she coolly slotted it past the goalkeeper.
The home side kept pressing forward with little in the way of attack coming from the opposition. Gibb and Tara Davidson were quickly on to any loose ball and picked off many a Torbay pass. The home side kept their width and played some good hockey with Holly Davidson having a superb game on the right wing, battling for the ball and setting up her forwards with intelligent passes.
Player of the match, Lottie Rademaker, also had another strong game using her skills to control the middle of the pitch, with Emma Wiseman using her pace to good effect down the wings.
Any momentum Torbay gathered was swiftly snuffed out by defenders, Rochelle Hillier, Charlotte Harper and Sandy Douglas but, despite all Oke's efforts, it was difficult to create chances on goal as Torbay defended in numbers.
Although Alice Wiseman in the Okehampton goal had little to do all match, she was called into action with only a few minutes to go and saved a good shot on a rare venture by the away side into the Okehampton circle.
