OKEHAMPTON seconds knew they had a challenge on their hands with Honiton commanding top position in the league table.

The Columbines started well at this match played at Ottery St Mary, with forward Annabelle Rademaker often gaining ground to penetrate the Honiton defence.

Honiton were always looking to strike a hard ball down the pitch and one of these caught Okehampton defender Carol Taylor on the foot forcing her to take an injury break. With only ten players Oke were now under pressure and soon conceded two goals to leave Honiton 2-0 up at half time.

After a team talk Oke started the second half in good spirits and were back to 11 players. Following a foul in the circle by Honiton. Annabelle Rademaker’s short corner shot was deflected into the back of the net by Rochelle Woolacott, giving Oke their first goal.

Honiton reacted by scoring two further goals, but good play down the right wing by Elsa Frangleton, nimble defending from Holly Yelland created more chances for the visitors.

Another short corner saw Annabelle Rademaker strike the ball onto a defenders stick which deflected into goal for Okehampton. Honiton scored a final goal giving them a 5-2 win. Oke player of the match was Elsa Frangleton for her fab effort.
