Tamar League Tavistock v Yelverton

TAVISTOCK entertained Yelverton in the first of the newly formed Sunday Tamar League games.

Tavistock batted first and although losing Ian Gray early, were soon punishing the Yelverton bowling.

Aaron Churchill and Rhys Davies scored rapidly, both getting half centuries. When they departed Sean Cleave produced his best ever club score with 96 not out, ably assisted by Dave Manning on 41 not out. They pushed the score to 263 for 3 by the end of 35 overs.

A daunting task for Yelverton was not helped by the loss of early wickets.

Steve and Jake Luffman and Richie West put respectability to the score but were unable to approach the target score.

Joe Trembath and Shaun Daymond were the pick of the bowlers ensuring James McGahey started off with a win.

Having beaten Plympton the week before players are looking forward to the new season.
