STUDENTS from Tavistock, Okehampton, Kingsbridge and Ivybridge secondary schools competed in the first ever West Devon School Sport Partnership Super 8 Athletics competition on the Tavistock College athletics track.

144 students competed in a team of 16 — eight girls and eight boys. Each athlete had to compete in a track, field and relay event to gain points for their team.

RESULTS: Year 7 team: 1, Okehampton with 1,392 points; 2, Ivybridge, 1,339 points; 3, Kingsbridge, 1,257 points; 4, Tavistock, 956 points. Boys Individual: 1, Kingsbridge, 109 points; 2, Ivybridge, 99; 3, Okehampton, 96. Girls individual: 1, Okehampton, 102; 2, Okehampton, 95, 3, Okehampton, 93.

Year 8/9 teams: 1, Okehampton, 1,802 points; 2, Okehampton, 1,701 s 3, Ivybridge 1,561. Boys individual: 1, Ivybridge, 132; 2, Kingsbridge, 128 points; 3 Okehampton, 127. Girls individual: 1, Ivybridge, 120; 2, Okehampton, 115; 3, Okehampton, 99.

Organisers thank the Tavistock College for the use of their facilities, equipment and providing the medals and the sixth form leaders from Tavistock College who helped officiate the events. Also to Keith Reed from the Armarda Network and members of Erme Valley Harriers who help plan and officiate the event.

Okehampton College represent the West Devon School Sport Partnership at the Devon Summer School Games finals on the July 6 in Exeter.
