For the first time Mount House School sent a team to Hasliberg in the Swiss Alps to take part in the British Schoolboys' races.
The races took place on the Hohbiel and were open to all British schools and clubs.
The team of Oscar Norris, Benedict Pugsley, Henry Ridgers, Finlay Rose and Louis Down got to work on pole training on the slopes with their Swiss instructor, and their commitment paid off when they took a surprise win in the parallel slalom against the Dulwich A team – competing with boys many years their senior.
Elated by their early victory the Mount House boys went on to secure good positions in their U13s category in the giant slalom and the slalom races. Snow conditions were good but there was at times very limited visibility making it difficult to read the slalom courses.
The boys' accuracy and speed meant they beat many prestigious older ski teams, and they should be proud of their achievements.
