THE weather was just ideal on June 5 as Weir Quay Sailing Club's cadet section welcomed more than 170 visitors from Cargreen, Saltash and Tamar River Sailing Clubs.

The clubs' members sailed up the estuary in their dinghies, support boats and cruisers to share in the annual regatta with WQSC club members.

Many local people came by to enjoy the spectacle too. As the crews beached their dinghies to line the hard and foreshore all the way along to the saltmarsh, they headed to enjoy barbecue and cakes.

After their food-stop, many of the cadets splashed and 'boat-larked' as a dozen or more tried to clamber aboard an oversized surf board; some even went back out to enjoy the breeze, sailing in the glorious evening sun!

Organisers voiced a huge thank-you to the many club members and cadet parents who helped to make last Friday's event such a resounding success. In total, the event made an excellent £480 towards club funds.
