Gareth Puttock memorial
Tavistock/Launceston XV 52

A SPECIAL memorial game was played at Sandy Park on Saturday to honour former Tavistock RFC player Gareth Puttock.
Gareth, died last year, aged just 24, but he has not been forgotten by his many friends in Tavistock and in Launceston where he played junior rugby.
The former Tavistock College student played for Tavistock RFC for three seasons before he went off to study at Sheffield University. He kept his association with the Moorlanders even when he moved further north to Leeds to work. In that city he played for Roundheigans, who honoured their former player by sending a side to play a combined Tavistock and Launceston XV.
Hammy Kerswill, a spokesman for Tavistock RFC, said: ‘The game was played in great spirit as reflected in the score - and a game Gareth surely would have loved himself.
‘After the game we were honoured to have Gareth’s parents and brother spread his ashes on the ground. It was a wonderful tribute.’
