Crediton U16s 5
Okehampton U16s 54
OKEHAMPTON extended their winning run to four games with an emphatic win at Crediton in the first leg in the Stuart Stocking Memorial Cup, which is traditionally played out between the U16s. It was a clinical display from Oke, with good work at the breakdown to provide the platform from which the tries were created.
The Oke scorers were George Dickinson (5), Kai Middleton, Tom Stevens and Daniel Turney.
Captain Ewan Northcott was on target with his boot, slotting home seven conversions from eight.
Despite the score, Crediton acquitted themselves well and managed a score of their own, but with Okehampton playing so confidently the home side had a mountain to climb. The return leg is in February, and Okehampton look forward to welcoming Crediton then.

AFTER the recent sting of a couple of home losses Okehampton came out fired up and determined.
They started well from the kick off, opening the scoring five minutes in with a great lineout ball, crossfield to Greg Haste to score on the wing. This was followed up with some great rucking and follow up on the loose ball for Joshua McCulloch to score. A quick tap penalty minutes later saw Barnaby Waddell storm through the Crediton defence to cross the line. Twenty minutes in, some superb aggressive attack and swift hands from Daniel Tomkins and Barnaby Waddell, put Cole Pengelly across the line. The end of the first half saw a quick pick up from the back of the scrum by Saul Holliday to score, quickly followed from the restart with a try from Will Cunningham.
The second half carried on along the same lines, with a great turnover ball from Cole Pengelly out to Jordan Hill on the wing to score. Minutes later a strong run from Barnaby Waddell saw him cross the line for his second try. Ten minutes into the half, a try from Daniel Tomkins saw the score line reach 53-0 and the game was won.
All credit to Crediton who wanted to play out the match, being rewarded with a much deserved try of their own, and a further three from Okehampton through Saul Holliday, Greg Haste and Cole Pengelly. Conversions: Will Cunningham (3), Charlie Glanville (1).
This was a great all round performance from Oke, with some good carries in the forwards through Sonny Luxton, Jack Rutley and Matt Denning, with Charlie Glanville and Cole Pengelly turning over some great ball, giving the backs room to run, which they all did well.
Crediton U12s 0
Okehampton U12s 80
THE score did not truly reflect the strengths of the hosts. Crediton had a large squad in both numbers and physical size and although Okehampton expected a tough game it did not happen.
Okehampton’s boundless energy kept chipping into the Crediton defence and once the first try was scored, more followed. Noticeable for Oke was Toby, who quickly picked up loose balls and offloading, and a high tackle rate from Ed plus some great catches from Alex. Tries were scored by Will, Lachs, Shortie, Shea, Saul, Adam, Callum, Dan and Craddy.
Credit does go to the home team, their heads did not drop at all and they were willing to keep trying right until the end.
Tavistock U11s 40
Bideford U11s 15
IT was a sunny day as Tavistock welcomed Bideford to Sandy Park. The first match saw Tavistock start strongly, with the forwards of Amelie White, Ted Wilkinson and Joel Blake all getting to the ball early and protecting it for scrum half, Solly Hunter, to spread the play down to the backs. Archie Davies for Tavistock then scored two quick tries with some impressive side steps. Bideford fought back to make the score 2-1 but this seemed to spur Tavistock on with Archie Chalk and William White turning on the pressure and speed, as William scored in the corner. Archie Davies went on another mazey run to score again before half time.
The second half saw the game being a bit more balanced but Tavistock moved the ball forward via some direct running with the ball from Ted, and it was Ted who scored going over the line from five yards out. Bideford retaliated with two tries but further tries from Archie and one from Sam Perkins ended the game with a resounding victory to Tavistock.

THE second game started to test the strength and depth of the Tavistock squad, and it was a great opening try from William Garside using his size and strength to get over the try line.
However, Bideford quickly scored two tries and the pressure was back on. Tavistock scrum half Alba Stewart was, as ever, in the middle of the action quickly getting the ball out to the backs Sam Boyle, Benji Madar, Luke Burbage and Ben Richardson.
A few loose tackles saw Bideford to go into half time three tries ahead and it need a motivating half time team talk from coach Dan White to rouse the troops.
Ethan Baker and Laird Whitford were the stars of the second half bringing Tavistock back to within a try, the highlight being a determined run from Joel from deep in his own half to gain 30 yards to create the opportunity for Laird to score in the corner. It was Bideford who got the last try of the day to win the second match by two tries.
Okehampton U11s 18 tries

With good passing and possession further tries from Harry and Oliver to make it 8-2 at the end of the first quarter.

From the next kick off, Oliver made a great pass to Jack T then on to Cain who ran the pitch to score again. Once again Crediton never gave up and came back to score.

Following another strong tackle from Cameron the ball found its way to Callum K to score the final try for 3-0.

TAVISTOCK started really well, putting in some crunching tackles after Bideford kicked off. Tavistock U10s 0
Bideford U10s 1 try
TAVISTOCK were unlucky not to get on the score sheet in this evenly contested game. Three times they were run into touch just before the tryline to stop them from scoring. Outstanding performances from Ernie, who was a tackling machine, and Finlay who rucked well kept Bideford at bay for much of the game. There was strength and power from William S and William TY and some great runs from Dominic. Edward, William S and Dominic put together some good passes, popping the ball out to Harry who was unlucky not to score. Good work from Gabriel, George and James kept the pressure on but Tavistock were just unable to get over the line.

THE home side played with the same intensity in the second game and only some resolute touchline tackling from Crediton kept them from scoring more heavily. Great work in the centre of the pitch from Lily and Zara created space for Oke’s wide runners to display their skills. An outrageous side step from Lewis brought him his second of three tries with further scores from Jacob and Kieran. A late Crediton fightback was repulsed by some great cover tackling notably from Stanley, Kieran and Jacob
