Tavistock U11s 45

Truro U11s 40

TAVISTOCK dominated the the first quarter. Despite Truro getting an early try it was the home side who showed some great skill in tackling and attack. A good kick from Dylan was picked up by James at the try line to get Tavistock off the mark. Callum demonstrated some superb driving resulting in the first of his tries. Matthew picked up a lose ball to score the third with Callum and Max both adding to the score sheet before the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was evenly paced with the home team now fighting against the uphill incline. Matthew scored again. Truro replied with some deft passing resulting in two tries for the visitors. In the third quarter Callum completed his hat trick with a try after running the length of the pitch., Truro scored another before Finn picked up a kick to score for Tavistock.

In the final quarter Tavistock loaned Dylan to an undermanned Truro side, only for him to score a try. Truro fought back with three further tries and the score was level. In the dying minutes James touched down for a final try, leaving the home team just ahead.

Withycombe U11s 20

Tavistock U11s 60

THE visitors started brightly. Dylan blocked a Withycombe kick, and combined with Mac to put Eddie through on the wing to open the scoring.  Max then caught the restart kick passed out to Eddie for his second.

A solid Tavistock scrum gave the visitors an attacking platform and they took full advantage with Seb demonstrating great hands to keep a flowing passing move alive, spinning the ball out to Ryan who passed to Luke to outrun the defence to go over in the corner.  The next play was a carbon copy and Luke scored his second. Tavistock’s confidence was high and when Callum won a scrum against the head, Max passed to Seb who fed the ball to Ryan to allow him to charge through the Withy lines for Tavistock’s fifth. All the Tavistock boys contributed to a strong team performance. With plenty of turnover ball the next chance for Tavistock came quickly and Eddie made no mistake stepping off his right foot to swerve inside and complete his hat-trick. Tavistock rounded off the half in style as Callum caught a restart kick and ran in the team’s seventh try.

Tavistock’s second half performance carried on in the same vein:  Seb ran a great line, stepping inside to create an overlap for Luke to score.  Callum’s clearance kick and run the length of the pitch for his fourth try.  More determined tackling from Dylan, Mac, Sam and Callum saw Tavistock create more attacking chances and Luke finished another good move.

Withycombe reduced the deficit with two quick scores but any thoughts of a come-back were dismissed as Callum capped his fine performance with another try and Ryan rounded things off as he took a pass from Dylan to score Tavistock’s and final try.
