Tavistock RFC 27
Topsham 34
Despite having a 27-5 half-time lead, Tavistock ended up losing to visitors Topsham and remain rooted to the bottom of the table. This was the second week running they had let a first half advantage slip.
The home side certainly had an inspired first 40 minutes thanks to a hat-trick of tries by George Hillson and one apiece from Sam Snell and Jack Easton.
However just before the interval Topsham scored a try through Robin Edbrooke – then, in the second half, dominating matters, Will Loughton scoring a hat-trick of tries, plus a brace from Will House.
Tavistock player-coach Hammy Kerswill summed it up by saying, ‘it was the best first half we’ve had, but a second half capitulation. It was another tough one to take but we’ve got to keep going as there’s a long season ahead’.
