MORE than 90 players from Tavistock RFC Mini and Juniors received their new playing shirt for the start of the 2018-19 rugby season.
This year Tavistock RFC Mini and Juniors strategic plan was to bring in line all the playing shirts for the whole Mini section from U7s to U12s. The club was delighted when Turners of Roborough came forward with an offer of sponsorship, and with their financial support the club was able to go ahead with purchasing six sets of new playing shirts.
On Sunday the club invited Phil Gawman, director of Turners of Roborough, to be present at Tavistock RFC as the junior players put on their new shirts for the first time.
Phil said that the club had a strong community bond and Turners of Roborough were proud to be associated with the rugby club. The players can look forward to running out in their new shirts as the matches get underway in October, with the season running through to the end of April.
Rugby starts at U6s who train at the club every Sunday morning, whilst older players from Under 7 to Under 15 play competitive matches across Devon and Cornwall. The club is open to both boys and girls, with the girls joining in with the boys until U11, then having their own teams at U13, U15 and U18.
Daniel White, on behalf of the club, said: ‘Tavistock RFC would like to thank Turners of Roborough for their support, together with our players and parents that make the club a success.’
