AFTER a lengthy break due to weather Tavistock were finally able to welcome impressive league leaders Wellington to Sandy Park.

The visitors had not lost since the third week of the season in all competitions and came with five points in their mind.

The Moorlanders were in fine spirit however, and despite what looks a convincing scoreline the hosts battled for the full 80 minutes. It took 30 minutes for the Somerset side to break the Tavistock defences, despite numerous chances of three points between the sticks instead opting for three consecutive scrums from defensive penalties. Tavistock held strong until conceding once more to bring the half-time score to 14-0 to the visitors.

The second half saw the hosts battling against the notable slope and increasingly heavy conditions. Wellington did secure the bonus point on the hour mark but Tavistock did put together a number of meaningful attacks after good turnover work from the impressive Ash Martin.

The home side were rewarded with a score moments from time when patient play on the Wellington try line saw colt Jack Easton snaffle his way over from close range, excellently converting his own effort.
