NEW safety fencing has been installed at Tavistock Rugby Club thanks to a combination of grants and the generosity of local sponsors.
The cost of the project came from the £2,500 of grants and sponsorship by the Rugby Football Foundation ‘Helping Hand’ scheme, Tavistock Town Council and Morris Bros Funeral Directors .
The posts holes were drilled by contractor Gerry Meakin to allow the band of volunteer club labour (mostly retired) to set about installing nearly 170 metres of safety timber fencing supplied by Tinhay Building Supplies.
Present for the photo were: The Tavistock Town Mayor Cllr Phillip Sanders, Simon Luke (proprietor of Morris Bros), Mike Lewis (Devon RFU) and five of the nine volunteer labour force for this project; Alan Rice, Martin Griffith (club president), Kirk Lewandowski, Alex McKie and lan Rice (missing from the photo were Bob Law, Rob Webber, Cedric Sutton and Tony Prince).
