Tavistock U15s’ girls 47
Cullompton U15s’ girls 14
TAVISTOCK U15s girls welcomed Cullompton to a wet and windy Sandy Park. With the ongoing poor weather of late the pitch was sodden and heavy going but Tavistock got to grips with the conditions from the off, running in the first try of the game.
Cullompton scored the next try and took a slender lead with the conversion, following up with the their second converted try within ten minutes. Tavistock came back before half time with a try from from Alex, converted by Kaya to bring the scores to 12-14 at the break.
Half time oranges worked wonders as Tavistock scored seven tries without response from Cullompton in the second half.
Tavistock’s support play was good with someone always available to take the ball forward and Jess, Rhian, Mia, Kaya, Alex and Izzy Ford got their names onto the score sheet. Sophie and Gemima also ‘scored’ two disallowed tries.
The final scoreline of 47-14 did not, however, reflect Cullompton’s efforts with good tackling and rucking and more than one try scoring opportunity stopped by Tavistock’s good defence within ten metres of the line.
The teams did rugby proud with a fully committed show from both of good rugby in difficult conditions.
