Tavistock RFC 12

Penryn 47

TAVISTOCK firsts welcomed third place Penryn to Sandy Park in their final Saturday home fixture of the season.

On the opening day of the season Tavistock opened a 17-0 lead but could not hang on for victory after a string of injuries so knew they had opportunity to score some points on home soil.

It took 16 minutes for the deadlock to be broke when a quick tap penalty saw Hillson feed Schuttkacker for the opening score. From this Tavistock enjoyed much of the possession but did not back up their attempt at territory when kick chases were not complete and Penryn scored three unanswered tries on the counter attack.

The second half started similar to the first when Tavistock got the opening score.

Arguably the best constructed score of the Tavistock season when Andrew Craddock turned over his own chip kick to feed Ethan Lamerton for a mazy run, a number of offloads saw the ball exchange hands six times only for Cameron McKie to go over from 15 metres out. This was however the last action for the home side to sing about and fittingly the clouds opened to some heavy rain in an unusual change in climate after blistering heat moments before.

Penryn scored a further five unanswered tries against the tired Tavistock legs to put the game to bed.
