TAVISTOCK first team produced one of the results of the season against their higher placed Cornish opposition.

Starting down the slope with conditions in favour, the Moorlanders struggled to maintain clean ball for the opening 10 minute period. It was not until the first Tavistock penalty that Tavistock produced an opening score in emphatic fashion.

Lanner, who lost a player to the bin from the resulting penalty were asked to scrummage 10 metres from their own line; the cohesive front row of Joe Hair, Hammy Kerswill and Charlie Charlton were awarded for their efforts with a penalty try.

Quarter way through the match and some good cover defence from Ben Hadfield saw him in possession and chipping through to his centre partner Ethan Lamerton to pounce for a five pointer.

This gave the home side a 12-0 lead at half-time.

The second half was very much one way traffic for the hosts who ran in a further four tries in 22 minutes. The first two came almost immediately from kick off when prop duo Hair and Charlton both bundled over from close range.

Tavistock were demonstrating some enjoyable rugby with forwards and backs linking well. This was notable when captain Andrew Schuttkacker cut a good line in midfield for a rare try. Webber converted.

Webber then made good yardage from a penalty kick only for a well constructed driving maul to be finished off by flanker Richard Cann.

Just as it looked like the floodgates would remain opened the game was abruptly ended due to a neck injury to a Lanner player. Thankfully he was back on his feet after a short delay but the game was called on 62 minutes.
