TAVISTOCK RFC 12

PLYMSTOCK OAKS 19

Difficult conditions at Sandy Park did nothing to aid the quality of play in what was an uninspiring encounter between these sides in the Cornwall/Devon League. Plymstock Oaks had lost on their previous two visits to Tavistock, but were to triumph, narrowly, versus a home side yet to win this season.

Two tries by Jack Green in the first half put the visitors well in command at half time - an ascendancy aided by the fact that Tavistock were, for a time, down to 14 men due to a player being yellow carded.

Early in the second half, Oaks extended their lead to 19-0; this though sparked a spirited response from the home side, with Jack Easton scoring two tries, which gained them a bonus point - something which could be crucial in the long run. Whilst this was not a memorable match, it was nevertheless a hard fought contest from which Tavistock emerged with credit.
