Tavistock 16
Newquay 11
TAVISTOCK are off the mark and out of the bottom three thanks to a hard-earned win. Newquay were never ahead and Tavistock coach Simon Fuller said there was a reason for that.
‘Our defence was superb and hard to break down,’ he said. ‘We were well organised and very solid, which was hugely encouraging to see.
‘What we need to do now is polish up our attack. Once we do that and with a solid defence behind us, results will come.’
Gareth Lovell jabbed Tavistock into an early lead with a penalty. Ian Morgan replied in kind for Newquay, but parity only lasted until Adam Williams ran over for Tavistock and Lovell converted.
Lovell stretched the lead with two more penalties. Newquay had the final word with an Ed Pearce try.
