TAVISTOCK Rugby Club last week hosted the first stage of the annual Great British Bike Ride from Land's End to Twickenham stadium for the third consecutive year.

In previous years the riders voted Tavistock Rugby Club as 'the best stop' of the four en route before the riders enter Twickenham rugby stadium to take a lap of honour round the hallowed pitch perimeter before the Premiership game which heralds the start of the rugby season.

The event raises money for several charities including Help for Heroes and the Rainbow Trust for Children. This year England Rugby World Cup winner and British Lion Phil Vickery MBE took part in the ride for a second time.
