THIS month former Kelly College pupil Liam Steevenson (pictured left) is attempting an extraordinary challenge — joining the most experienced ocean rowing crew ever assembled to attempt to row across the Atlantic Ocean from Gran Canaria to Barbados.

The challenge, which is considered to be one of the hardest endurance events, is being made in the most technically advanced ocean rowing boat ever made, in world record time, in less than 32 days.

Liam, 36, said: 'I am doing this challenge to try and raise money for the fantastic charity CLIC Sargent, a children's cancer charity that helped my family enormously when I went through cancer treatment with my middle son George.'

Liam currently lives in South Devon and is best known as a leading independent wine merchant, running the Red and White Wine Company. He is also an experience sailor and Ocean Yacht Master, having skippered yachts in UK, Mediterranean and Australian waters.
