TWO juniors from Tavistock Golf Club, Will Stenhouse and Mike Henderson started six rounds of golf at 4.30am to raise money for the club captain's charities of Chicks and Children's Hospice South West.

After 12 hours and 25mins of golf, three breaks and 32 miles later, the intrepid duo finished at 7.25pm with Stableford scores of 212 points to Will (five handicap) and 211 points to Mike (six handicap) just four and five points over par.

Captain Richard Smith said: 'This was an amazing achievement by the lads in such a short time and to raise monies for the children's charities is a credit to them and their parents. We at the club are extremely proud of their effort.'

Keith Stenhouse, the club' s junior organiser, added: 'Not only did they achieve their target of raising more than £1,250 but have exceeded it in style, especially when they played the final round in schoolgirls attire which was much to the amusement of the members and also to passing traffic who showed their support.'

Keith also praised Keiron Alder, another junior, who caddied all the rounds and also praised all the other caddies, helpers and sponsors.

A final total is expected soon and will be presented to the captain in September.
