MOUNT Kelly took part in the Aquae Sulis Grand Prix over two days in Bristol last weekend, with 43 swimmers winning a haul of 40 medals in total.
Athena Clayson, aged 14, stormed through the weekend to achieve her fourth Olympic trials qualifying time in the 200 metre freestyle in a time of 2 minutes 06.28 seconds, breaking the Mount Kelly Age Group record and winning gold.
Other gold medals were won by Ben Harrison, Eddie Maddocks, Julian Chan, Ollie Taverner and Emily Cutler.
The silver medal winners were Alex Seymour, Charlie Hodges, Jack Hutchin, Eddie Maddocks, Thalia Poaros, Jade Stocker, Chloe Barrow, Kaylee Dekker and Julian Chan.
The bronze medal winners were Thomas Brew, Charlie Hodges, Eddie Maddocks, Leah Picillo, Kaylee Dekker, Ben Harrison, Jack Hutchin and Emily Cutler.
Mount Kelly age group records were broken by Kaylee Dekker in the 50 metre and 100 metre butterfly, Athena Clayson in the 50 metre freestyle, 100 metre backstroke, 200 metre freestyle and 200m individual medley, Jade Stocker in the 200 metre breaststroke, Leah Picillo in the 200 metre individual medley, Ollie Taverner in the 50 metre, 100 metre and 200 metre backstroke, Chloe Barrow in the 50 metre butterfly and Ben Harrison in the 200 and 400 metres individual medley.
Jasmin Morgan who was coordinating the meet for Mount Kelly said: ‘For our first long course competition of the season our swimmers did extremely well and exceeded the coaching team’s expectations. We are all looking forward to attending the Wycombe Premier Meet and the Edinburgh International Meet this coming weekend where the aim is to gain further qualifications for the Olympic trials.’
