SHELLY Warren from Gunnislake won the first ever South West Kickboxing Academy and Martial Arts (SWKA) 'student of the month' for June 2014. Shelly has been training with the SWKA for about 12 months, but over the past six weeks has shown remarkable progress. Head coach 4th Dan Steve Lilley said: 'Shelly's come on really far. Her progress in terms of her kicking height has really increased by about 6 inches, which is really pleasing to see. We're all looking forward to Shelly's grading in July where she should, if she performs well, achieve great things in her upcoming grading.' The SWKA currently train on a Friday night at Tavistock Sports Centre from 7.35pm to 9pm, with more classes being added soon. For more information contact Steve on 07773863518 or email [email protected]">[email protected] A trial class will be held tomorrow (Friday) at Tavistock Sports Centre from 6.30pm to 7pm, based on pilates, kickboxing and Modern Aikido in a slow controlled, non-contact class.
