AFTER the pouring rain during the week the pitch at Tavistock was perfect for a game of rugby.
Tavistock had their usual slow start letting Bideford into the game with an easy try — but this woke up the Tavy side and their game started to get into full swing.
There was good play by the forwards and considering the side had quite a few new players and players returning from injury they all played very well.
Tavistock started to get the upper hand in the game but losing their discipline and having a player yellow carded meant that Bideford could come back and punish Tavistock for their mistakes. Two more tries were to come before the second half. With Bideford playing down the slope and a Tavistock player sent off it seemed that things could not get much worse in the second half when Liam Wilson was tackled and another player fell on him leaving him with a dislocated hip. With the player unable to be moved the game was abandoned.
This was welcome news for the seconds coach/manager Martyn Credicott and his opposite number too as between them their combined ages totalled more than a 100 years.
