AFTER a three week block of coaching in local primary schools delivered by members of the Mount Kelly PE department and coaches from Tavistock Hockey Club, primary schools from around the local area joined in a one day tournament held at Mount Kelly.
Up to 130 pupils were involved in the afternoon with each school providing three teams for the afternoon; primary schools that took part were Tavistock, St Andrew’s in Buckland Monachorum, Horrabridge, Whitchurch and Mount Kelly Prep. Overall winners of Pool A went to Horrabridge A, Pool B was won by Mount Kelly B and St Andrew’s C won Pool C.
Tom Honey, a sports teacher from Mount Kelly, said: ‘The primary hockey festival has, once again, been a huge success.
‘Pupils enjoyed their extra training and displayed their newly acquired hockey skills in the final brilliantly. We saw some exciting and closely fought matches, well done to all that took part.’
