THE first in the series of cross country competitions for the Tavistock Area Primary Schools took place last week.
Tavistock Community Primary hosted the event with the sun shining on the competitors.
The main event, which is the year 5/6 team competition had 58 girls taking to the five lap course. First home was Krystina Cade of St Andrew’s followed by Izzy Page of Meavy and Hannah Walker of St Peter’s. Top scoring girls’ team was Tavistock School.
In the boys’ race Kebba Murch of Tavistock took first place followed by Ewan Dix of St Peter’s and William White of Whitchurch.
The winners of the team competition will be announced after the final event, which takes place at Princetown on March 16.
Tavistock School have a slender one point lead over St Andrew’s, Buckland Monachorum, who are nine points ahead of Whitchurch. This year’s competition promises an exciting end.
