WEST Devon A went joint top of the league with a hard worked 4-1 win over West Devon C in the Tavistock Snooker League.

The C team started well with a well earned black ball win for Grigg over highly fancied Emptage. Rich restored parity for the A team with a resounding win over Pinkney which included silky 39 and 23 breaks along the way. Heathman pulled back an early Williams lead to put the A team in front followed by this year's surprise package Taylor, punching above his weight again to oust the wily Hodge on the black. The 'cue de grace' was completed by young Keith Morris picking up his first win of the season in emphatic style as he steamrollered Shrimpton.

Conservative Z's new signing Steve Hall, stepped away the victor in a tense, tight frame against Conservative B's Nick Monk, to give the Z team an early lead.

Heartfield for Con Z had an uphill struggle from the off, and the result was never in doubt against Mark Evans as he levelled the scores for the B team. A lacklustre performance from Con Z's Symons, gifted the third frame to a grateful Lillicrap.

In the next frame some wonderful potting displays combined with elegant safety play from both Dolan and Fitzsimmons took it to a black ball game with Fitzsimmons finally securing the win for Con Z.

In the decider Jankowski against Martin McKechnie was a titanic struggle but it was McKechnie that finally edged the frame and make it 3-2 to Con B.
