Kingsbridge seconds v Yelverton seconds

YELVERTON seconds chased down 220 to win at Kingsbridge on Saturday.

Kingsbridge's 219-6 was built around an unbeaten century from Clive Clarke (101 not out), Clarke going to his ton off the last ball of the innings.  M Edmonds chipped in with 33.

Bowling honours for the Bohemians were shared between Terry Roe (2-57), veteran Tony Carter (2-24) and Ian Loze (2-36).

After reducing Kingsbridge to 39-4, Clarke and Brown put on 74 for the fifth wicket and then Edmonds helped Clarke add a further 67 for the sixth.

Needing to score at just under five runs an over, the Bohemians reply started slowly, opening pair Gavin Jones and Chris Cottrell struggling to get the ball away to the boundary.  Cottrell was forced to retire hurt on 17 with an achilles injury. Jones was bowled for 9 by Tony Treeby and Gerry Keen was caught at mid-off by S Inch off the bowling of Clarke (2-41).

Peter Garland scored a stylish 29 before he top edged a sweep and was caught by the keeper M Peach with the score on 68 off 21 overs.

The fourth wicket pair of Ian Loze and Geoff Brain started slowly but the longer the pair stayed together however their partnership prospered and the total 100 was reached without further loss.

The milestone of the 100 partnership came and went as the pair started to flay the Kingsbridge bowling to all parts.  Some high scoring overs got the Bohemians up with the required run rate.

The Kingsbridge total was reached without further loss with Loze 59 not out and Brain 82 not out as their unbroken fourth wicket partnership reached 152 - the Bohemians winning by seven wickets on 220-3.

Yelverton seconds 220-3 (18 points) beat Kingsbridge seconds 219-6 (6pts) by seven wickets.
