MEMBERS of Tavistock Athletic Club competed in two 5k races.

The first round of the summer 5k series, which is organised by Armada Network over a hilly course at Saltram House, had been run on a miserably wet and windy evening — for round two, the weather was thankfully less hostile.

Under 17 Samuel Lane De Courtin was first TAC home in fourth place overall, in a fast 17 minutes 51 seconds. Jason Shipton and Graham De Val both marginally improved on their previous month's times, Jason finishing in 21.11 and Graham in 24.33. U15 Charlie Shipton was next to finish, in 24.49, whilst U15 Jennifer Sabine ran a season's best time to finish just two places behind, in 25.02.

Alice Rogers was the lone TAC entry at the Exeter 5k on a flat and fast course along the River Exe and Exeter canal. U20 Alice ran exceptionally well to gain a new personal best time by well over a minute as she finished in 19.31.

Peter Bazley ran his fifth 10k race in as many months as he competed in the multi-terrain Crediton Crunch, finishing second in his MV55 category in a time of 48.56.
