THE Mount House School inter-set athletics went ahead with the pupils taking advantage of a small window in the deluge to compete on a dry but slow track.

A flying start from Maddie Hine set a new school record of 14.09 seconds for the intermediate girls' 100m.

In the senior girls' discus Bethan Wesley set a new record, only to be beaten by Elsa Kent with her final, throw of 22m 20cm. Emma Manton set a new games record (4m 20cm) in the senior girls' long jump and in the triple jump to 9m 16cm. The senior boys' long jump record was also broken byWilf Hadow with 5m 51cm.

In the senior girls' four x 100m, when the Kangs team, Lucy Walliker, Francesca Thornton-Wood, Ella Cunningham and Jessica Huntington, won in a new record time of 61.0 seconds.

This year's inter-set athletics competition was won by the Owls. The trophies were presented by Alice Wordie, whose daughter Florence is this year's head girl at Mount House.
