Tavistock junior triathlete Pete Jarman took part in the eighth annual Taunton Deane aquathlon at Wellington Sports Centre. There were nearly 200 athletes taking part with Pete competing in the sprint distance which consisted of a 500m swim followed by a 5k run.
Pete swam 20 laps of the pool, followed by a quick transition into his running gear, then ran two laps of a hilly course. Pete completed the event in a time of 29 minutes and 50 seconds (swim 8.04, run 21.46).
Pete was presented with the trophy for first male youth and received another trophy for third male overall — a great achievement considering he was one of the youngest competitors taking part.
Pete, who attends Tavistock College trains with Tavistock Swim Club and Tavistock Athletic Club and competed on behalf of Plymouth Triathlon Club.
