SUPERB results were obtained from nine swimmers from Tavistock Swimming Club when they competed in the Devon County Championships at the Plymouth Life Centre.
They achieved seven championship finals, 14 age-group finals and 40 personal best times over the 42 events in which they competed.
Joint boys club captain Matt Edward reached seven finals in the eight events he competed in. He reached five championship finals, finishing in the top five in all of them, with a second place in both the 100m and 200m freestyle.
The age-group finals of the 16 and over 100m IM produced some close racing in adjacent lanes as Matt, the other boys' joint club captain, Nathaniel Rookes and Kieran Rookes had all qualified, with Matt just finishing ahead.
Nathaniel had also qualified for the 100m backstroke age-group final, where a solid swim earned him a fifth place finish.
Kieran Rookes reached the championship finals in his favoured breaststroke events, achieving a second place in the 50m breaststroke, with over a second improvement to his personal best time and fifth place in the 100m breaststroke. Kieran was also sixth place in the age-group final of the 200m IM.
James Anderson, aged 15, reached four age-group finals, with improvements to personal best times of more than 10 seconds for the 200m butterfly and 200m freestyle, which was capped with a fine 3rd place in the former. James produced great swims to achieve personal best times in all his events. Also competing in five events in the 15 year old age group was Harry Thompson, who recorded three PBs and a fifth place in the 100m IM age-group final.
Luke Stephens, 13, also achieved improvements to PBs greater than 1.5 seconds in all his five events. Jake France, 12, achieved a personal best in the 200m freestyle.
For the girls 14 year-old Emily Attfield reached the age-group final of the 100m freestyle, for a seventh place finish and recording two PB times. Also competing at the championships was Beth Thompson.
Head coach, James Lake said: 'So many achievements, it's hard to know where to start. For me, swimmers have shown we have real depth to the club. With this many successful swims, I just don't want it to stop, with the swimmers achieving 15 regional qualifying times - we'll just have to go and succeed there too.'
