OKEHAMPTON Running Club sent three teams to the Tavistock Town Relays organised by Tavistock AC. Once again there was a record turnout with 79 senior teams competing and more than £1,000 raised for charity. Paul Crease, Andy Vernon, Stuart May and Adrian Vernon finished third in a competitive men's veterans club category. The 'Moor Maidens' team of Jo Fletcher, Karen Vallance, Mags Jarvis and Sarah Marvin came fourth in the strong veteran club ladies' category. Heidi Wills was running in her first race along with Hannah Woods, Rebecca Simmons and Kerry Morashti for the 'Okey Cokeys' veteran club ladies' team. Andy Vallance, Paul Crease and Nick Seccombe finished in the top 20 runners at the Haytor Heller hosted by Teignbridge Trotters. This race sells out every year and attracts fell runners from far and wide. The challenging 6k route is all off-road offering stunning views over the county starting with a steep pull halfway up the iconic Haytor Rock. ORC's Great West Fell Run is on Saturday, August 2 at 2pm. Ideal for a first fell race but still a challenge for experienced fell runners. Memento for all finishers. Cakes and refreshments.
