Another busy cycling weekend produced the club's best ever results for Tavistock Wheelers race team.

There was great success for the Wheelers in Saturday's racing - with a second and third place for Harry Bryant and Rob Waddy in the youth race at Perranporth. In addition, a superb fourth place was achieved by Mark Pierce in the fourth category race. However, these efforts were superseded by the excellent teamwork of the Tavistock Wheelers - North Shore Gallery race team, who took the first three places in the Cornish Series race one at Perranporth.

In first place was Mark Wiffen with Gary Roberts second and Will Johnson third. It is a superb achievement for the race team and their other teamates contributed greatly to a fast pace and a tactical triumph.

Elsewhere, at Ilton in Somerset, there was another strong performance from Jordan Channon and Stanley Barker in the competitive Youth Series race. On Sunday many of the race team entered the second Falco Road Race at Leedstown in Cornwall. Dan Strong scored points with a superb sprint finish and other Tavistock riders had strong performances.

Mark Wiffen was looking competitive but an unfortunate puncture ended his race early. Rod Stewart and Chris Beighton took part in a 'two-up time trial' near Honiton and came away with an impressive third place in their age group.

Off the racing circuit 40 Tavistock Wheelers riders, descended on the Waterfall Cafe at Lydford for much needed cake after a 40 mile pedal.

n Tavistock Wheelers will be hosting a 25 mile time trial on Sunday with more than 60 competitors taking part. The route begins just south of Mary Tavy on the A386 and heads out past Sourton before returning  across Black Down and finishing outside the Trout and Tipple.

The first rider will set off at 9am and should complete the 25 mile route in about the one hour mark. The course record is just over 56 minutes which works out at an incredible average speed of just under 27 mph. The last rider home should be finished at around 11.15 am since they set off at one minute intervals.

The event will be marshalled by members of the club and the Tavistock Wheelers invite people who would like to see a local cycling event , please to go along and find a good vantage point.
