RIDERS attending the annual Okehampton Pleasure ride run by Endurance GB South West member Jo Chisholm enjoyed great views for a change thanks to the sunny, but quite chilly weather earlier this month.
The new venue at the old Meldon Quarry car park used with the permission of the Okehampton Hamlets Parish Council was a great success, with the riders able to enjoy a new route and some spectacular views.
About 38 combinations took part in the ride, with some opting for the shorter 19k route and others carrying on around towards Okehampton Camp and back around by the quarry for another five km. The youngest rider, George Barnes, 11 was riding his mum Linda's horse Astral Wind, probably one of the oldest horses taking part at the age of 24. Although frosty to start with, the sun improved temperatures for the riders. Photographer Kim Goostrey use the stunning backdrop of Meldon Reservoir to take photos of the riders.
This was the first ride in the Endurance GB South West calendar. The next one is at Cardinham Woods near Bodmin, before the season's first competitive ride at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge on March 25.
