Tavistock Community FC ladies 16 Okehampton ladies 1 TAVISTOCK were at home in a local football derby with the newly formed Okehampton ladies' team. The home side got off to a quick start with Robyn Hammond crossing the ball, to meet the head of Sarah Martin, to hit the back of the net. The second came from another great cross by Hammond, for Becky Gordan to tuck it behind the keeper into the goal. After some great passing throughout the Tavistock team, Hammond took a corner. which was met by the head of player of the match Donna Hone. After some more good teamwork and passing, left winger Kirsty Jones put Tavistock 4-0 ahead. Okehampton worked hard to keep Tavistock at bay for the rest of the first half. After half time, Tavistock got off to a great start. A corner by Hone was met by the head of Laura Phillip to add Tavistock's fifth goal. Okehampton came straight back at Tavistock, with a great shot, forcing home goalkeeper Zoe Stock to make a superb save. Tavistock scored the sixth when Hone pulled the ball back to Sarah Martin, who slotted it home. Soon after Zoe Stock took a goal kick which set up Martin for her hat-trick. Okehampton worked hard to try to break the Tavistock defence, eventually catching Tavistock asleep and gaining a consolation goal scored by Bonnie Harris, who scored her first of the season. More goals soon followed from Tavistock. Becky Turner scored two, Sarah Martin getting her fourth, one a piece for Jo Harris and Kirsty Jones. Becky Gordan finished off with an additional four goals to finish a great game with Tavistock's teamwork and fitness paying off. Credit to the new Okehampton side working hard and not giving up all through out the game.
