Okehampton Ladies 9
Dawlish 0
WITH promotion already secured, Okehampton were keen to make one more score to accomplish a century of goals this season.
Their penultimate match against Dawlish started well with quick passing, which soon led to Okehampton taking an early lead with Hannah Whiteley finding the back of the net and taking the honour as the century goal scorer.
Okehampton were not satisfied with just the single goal; Jo Moppett continued the attack with an individual run through the defence and drilled the ball past the keeper to provide a lead cushion.
Okehampton showed no complacency and continued to unlock the defence with another three goals from Whiteley and one from captain Kim Davey making the score 6-0 at half time.
Dawlish fought hard in the second half, but Okehampton’s defence remained in control with Nicola Stoneman, Nicky Pedrick and Anna Speak commanding the back line.
With excellent saves from goalie Alice Wiseman, Dawlish’s attacks were kept at bay. It wasn’t long before the tide turned again and Whiteley slotted the ball past the keeper for her fifth of the match. Molly Marvin built on a series of good performances with some brilliant play which allowed Moppett to drive her second goal past the goalie.
With Dawlish again looking dangerous on the attack, Louise Weller and Laura Parsons worked well to drive the ball through the middle, passing to Moppett who swiftly crossed the ball to a waiting Jess Medland who calmly slotted the ball away just as the whistle went, making the final score 9-0.

Okehampton 11
Sidmouth & Ottery 0
THE game got off to a good start with Okehampton dominating play.
The breakthrough occurred with an excellent short corner conversion from Jo Moppett. Okehampton maintained their attack and swift passing between Moppett and Hannah Whiteley saw Whiteley slot the ball past the keeper for her first goal of the match.
After excellent team play from the home side, Whiteley soon added three more goals to her tally. Captain Kim Davey worked hard and was unlucky not to add her name to the score sheet. A short corner in the dying seconds of the first half allowed Laura Parsons to neatly tuck the ball past the keeper for the home side to lead the half 6-0.
Okehampton remained hungry for more goals as Jo Moppett went on a rampage, running through the Sidmouth and Ottery defence to score four more goals. While comfortably in the lead, the Okehampton defence of Jane Jones, Nicola Stoneman and Nicky Pedrick were occasionally troubled from counter attacks, but calmly worked together to keep feeding the forwards the ball.
Louise Weller linked well with Amanda Sim to create opportunities which allowed Whiteley to score her fifth goal of the match leaving the final score a convincing 11-0 win.
Okehampton are now Petroc Division 1 league champions, having finished an unbeaten season, scoring 119 goals in 18 games and only conceding 20 and will be promoted into South Division.
The team would like to thank all their supporters and umpires this season. Their final match of the season is the Devon Trophy final on April 16, away at Plymouth Marjons, with a 9.30am push back.
The team would be grateful for any supporters as they try and win their second title, which would be a fitting end to the season as the clubs awards evening is also on April 16.
