SPORT in Okehampton continues to thrive as funding from Okehampton United Charity will support Okehampton Hockey Club's newly formed women's third team.

The charity has made a donation to the club to support the team. Jane Jones from the club said: 'Next season the club will be running three ladies' league teams who play in the West Women's Hockey League on Saturdays from September through to March. These teams train on Wednesday evenings from August to the end of April.

'The club also holds "Back to Hockey" sessions on a Monday evening for ladies who haven't played hockey for a number of years or are new to the game – these are sociable fun and fitness sessions.

'We run junior hockey sessions in conjunction with the men's hockey club on Saturday mornings from September to March for school Years 5 to 10 and enter teams into the Devon Junior Leagues. 

'The club is accredited to the Club Mark "Clubs First" scheme ensuring that it is run to England Hockey's standards.'
