IN glorious sunshine on the weekend of May 16 and 17, the 2015 Mid Devon Foursomes were hosted by Okehampton and Downes Crediton Golf Clubs.

With more than 164 competitors taking part this produced an excellent weekend's golf on both courses.

The winners of the 36 hole Scratch Trophy were Downes Crediton club captain Tristan Kershaw together with Paul Ezard with 55 points: second place went to Matt Soby and Paul Prouse (Okehampton) with 53 points and third place to Steve Peake and Evan Rees (Okehampton) 52 pts.

The winners of the 36 hole Handicap Trophy were Alan Lawrence and Lynn Hazelton (Downes Crediton) with 79 pts, in second place and winning the 36 hole Single Sex Trophy were Matt Mills and Keith Harkness (Okehampton) with 70pts and in third place Dave Vowden and Wayne Chant (Crediton and Exeter) with 67 points.

The 36 hole Mixed Trophy winners were Allen and Penny Deakin (Okehampton) with 66 points; in second place S Headon and C White (Gt Torrington) with 64 pts and third place went to T and J Scott (Lyme Regis) also with 64pts.

Sam Woollacott and Paul Rattenbury (Okehampton) were the winners of the 36 hole single sex category with 67pts, in second place were Paul Skidmore and Philip Jones (Okehampton) with 66 pts and in third place were Norman Banfield and Jamie Brodie (Long Sutton) with 64pts.

On Saturday, May 23, Okehampton Golf Club held a four ball better ball open.

The overall winners with 44 points were Rob Camies and Simon Jefferies, in second place with 43 points were John Haley and Okehampton club captain Paul Douglas and in third place were Evan Rees and Del Owen with 42 points.

The best visitor prize went to Andrew Egginton and C Wayman of Teignmouth/Exeter with 39 points.
