After a month’s break from matches, Okey were looking to get back to winning ways on a boggy pitch that wasn’t suited to their expansive game.
Okey started brightly with an aggressive route one attack from Dylan Sullivan charging down the centre of the pitch.
Keeping the ball alive quickly out of the back of the rucks, Zak made further hard yards through heavy traffic before popping the ball to Freddy who smashed a hole in the defensive line and found Louis in space on the wing to finish off some fine rolling rugby.
Euan calmly slotted a tricky conversion kick to seal a perfect start. Okey were relentless in their pressure as Dylan Sullivan set off on another rampaging run direct from the restart, beautifully flipping the ball out of the tackle to Henry who was running an intelligent supporting line to score in the corner.
South Molton were kept pegged back by brutally efficient Okey tackling which stopped them gaining any moment.
Okey’s skills at the breakdown were much improved as they repeatedly stole possession in the ruck and maul.
Strong work in the close from Ethan and Mikey won the ball for Okey on their own 22 and released Henry who out-paced the entire team to score under the posts. Henry picked up a third try as a he caught a perfectly weighted cross field kick from Euan running at full tilt.
Okey were controlling every element of the game, the well drilled forwards gave no quarter to the opposition providing a solid platform for Jacob to unleash waves of attacking moves from the backs.
Silky running from Ciaran and Dylan Shayler repeatedly pierced the defence as Okey looked to pile on the points.
A rare attacking move from South Molton was turned on its head as JJ powerfully ripped the ball and cantered over to score from the halfway line.
Louis picked up his second try being the fastest to react to a botched South Molton clearance kick, snaffling the loose ball to touch down over the line.
Powerful jackaling from Ethan secured another front foot turnover, a laser pass from Jacob picked out Euan running the perfect inside line to wriggle through the tackles to score under the posts. The heavy pitch conditions took their toll on the home team, with their strength flagging Wilf took the opportunity to peel of the back of a maul and plough through four opposing players to score. Euan finished off the match in style by nailing the conversion from out wide. An excellent all round team performance.
