Okehampton U13s 17

Ivybridge U13s 10

FROM the outset, Ivybridge rugby team applied determined pressure, which saw them rewarded with two well taken tries in the first 20 minutes.

Not allowing their heads to drop, and with growing confidence, Okehampton picked up the tempo with sustained pressure causing Ivybridge to knock on in their own 22 yard line; from this, a solid scrum saw Saul Holiday, who had a great game, pick up and power his way over the line for Oke.

Playing down hill, with the sun behind them in the second half, Okehampton showed their mettle, stepping up their scrummaging and rucking, creating good, clean ball for the backs, which resulted in a try in the corner for Greg Haste.

Oke kept up the attack with forwards and backs linking well.  Good lineout ball set Barnaby Waddell on a powerful break, with the resulting ruck ball utilised quickly by Joshua Burgoyne to steam through the gap, laying the ball back for Cole Pengelly to cross the Ivybridge line.

On his debut game Michael Stevens acquitted himself well in the pack, as did Tom Robins, who made a welcome return after weeks out injured.

Ivybridge came back strongly in the last five minutes but Okehampton's defence denied them any more points.  It was a great performance by the home side. Oke tries by Saul Holiday and Greg Haste; conversion, Joshua Burgoyne.
