Exe ladies’ fifths 0
Oke ladies’ seconds 4
IT was a drizzly day but Okehampton and Exe ladies’ hockey teams were up for a mid table battle for the points. Despite the first half finishing with no goals, Okehampton were dominant.
The second half saw a renewed Oke team; Annebelle Rademaker made effortless passes to Alex Collins and Emily Rowlands. Within minutes Oke secured the first penalty corner and Alex Collins smashed the ball to past the goalie into the bottom left corner.
Oke were hungry for more goals. Annebelle Rademaker made it 2-0 to Oke with a stupendous lifted ball into the net that baffled the goalkeeper.
Exe tried to push through Oke’s midfield only to meet Nicola Bennie, Carol Taylor and Debbie Pritchard who dealt with their efforts. Lucy Wiseman, the Oke goalkeeper, made excellent saves to thwart the home side.
A third goal came from Carol Taylor’s timed pass to Alex and the fourth from Rochelle Woollacott who floated the ball past the goalkeeper.
Sophie Mugliston, in her first league match for Oke, close marked her opponent and showed intelligence on the ball; she was named player of the match.
