THE hockey match started strong for Ashmoor, whom dominated with waves of attacks which penetrated through Okehampton midfield.
The Okehampton defence, co-orindated by captain Rochelle Hillier and sweeper Sandy Douglas, saw off Ashmoor's plucky attack.
Okehampton settled to get into their stride and took the game into Ashmoor's half and before long Lottie Rademaker, who troubled the Ashmoor goalkeeper all game, relented to an own goal claimed by Lottie.
However, moments before half time when Okehampton stepped off the pace, Ashmoor took their chance to strike back and equalise to leave it 1-1 at half time.
The second half brought 'an end to end battle' between both sides.
The Okehampton defence were tested by penalty corners from the home team, Katie Adam and Hillier doing a sterling job closing down Ashmoor's opportunities each time. Douglas and Debbie Pritchard helped ease the pressure by storming out of defence to bring Oke more opportunities to counter-attack. Alex Collins, Ailsa Gibb, and Viv Weatherington for Oke played some superb passes to allude the Ashmoor's midfielders.
Before long Okehampton was awarded a short corner and Viv Weatherington put the ball in the net from a deflected hit but was disallowed by the umpire.
This was a tireless effort from both teams and an exciting game to watch.
