Tavistock firsts 5
Okehampton men’s firsts 1
FRIDAY the 13th saw the first Friday night league hockey fixture to be held in the area with a season high attendance of 63. Tavistock maintained their superb start to the season with a 5-1 win over their West Devon rivals Okehampton.
The home side took the lead when Si Fenwick pounced on a loose ball out of defence from Okehampton; Fenwick was allowed time and space to run into the D before firing a shot low to the keeper’s stick side. The visitors hit back from a penalty corner to level the game at 1-1 but it did not last for long. Dom Stanbury picked out in form striker Forshaw, who took a touch before calmly slotting the ball past the advancing keeper.
The lead was extended shortly before half time when Ollie Richards smashed the ball past the keeper following good work from Willetts and Honey.
Midfielder Dom Stanbury scored the fourth for the home side with a well taken reverse stick shot from the top of the D.
Tavistock then enjoyed large amounts of possession as they looked to consolidate their lead before scoring their fifth goal with ten minutes remaining. In a switch of roles it was Stanbury who found Fenwick at the top of the D to fire in his second of the game.
Sam Stanbury picked up the man of the match award for his outstanding performance at centre back.
