OKEHAMPTON ladies' third team travelled to Exeter on Sunday to play a triangular fixture against similar teams from Exe and Dart Hockey Clubs.

Oke played two half hour games against each of the teams.

The game against Exe was evenly matched but with Oke dominating the play early in the game, Emily Rowlands was unlucky not to get the ball in the Exe goal.

Exe found their form as the game progressed, putting pressure on the Oke defence but strong tackling from Anna Luxton and tight marking from centre back Melissa Pinfield stopped the Exe advance leading to a 0-0 draw.

There was some quick end to end hockey in the game against Dart.

Oke looked dangerous on the attack with Sarah Marvin at right half providing her wing Sarah Bazeley with some well placed passes leading to Bazeley scoring the first goal.

Oke's young players Molly Marvin and Emily Rowlands linked well in the middle of the field dropping back to help defend but also surging forward to attack at every opportunity.

Okehampton's second goal was scored by Larissa Goodger who closed down a Dart mis-hit; she secured possession of the ball and smashed it into the back of the net.

Dart were quick to counter attack but Oke's right back Lois Rowlands cut out several attempts to penetrate the Oke circle.

Oke played fast flowing hockey throughout the game and were rewarded with a third goal when a pass from Larissa Goodger found Louise Watts in space in front of the Dart goal and she made no mistake in hitting the ball over the line.

Just before the final whistle Dart were on the attack again but Oke keeper Lucy Wiseman kept a clean sheet despite several goal attempts from the Dart attack.
