Plymouth Marjons 4
Oke ladies firsts 3
IN the sweltering heat Okehampton started the game with strength, the attack — Jo Moppet, Molly Petherbridge, Kim Davey and Winnie Rademaker — forcing the game forward.
Dominating most of the play, Okehampton made a strong run towards Marjons defence, where player of the match Winnie Rademaker made a powerful hit towards goal for Jo Moppet to finish.
Okehampton increased their lead with an impressive goal by Kim Davey from an acute angle. This was shortly followed by an unlucky goal from the opposition.
Oke's defence of Rachel Hammett, Carol Taylor, Jane Jones, Hannah Whiteley, Katie Adams, Lesley Bingham, and Nicki Stoneman worked well together.
However Marjons slipped in another goal from a short-corner.
With minutes to go until half time Moppet for Oke came out with another superb goal by interception of player just before half-time.
Marjons came back raring to go. This put Okehampton's defence under pressure and with a well-rehearsed short-corner routine, Marjons took the lead, leaving the score in the end as 4-3. Unlucky to not at-least get a draw, after several unsuccessful attempts at goal, and some incredible saves from goalie-Shannon Osman- Okehampton stayed determined throughout, and their team spirit never died.
