ISCA ladies’ fourths 1
Okehampton ladies’ firsts 6
OKEHAMPTON were somewhat nervous as they travelled to Exeter University for a top of the table clash against ISCA.
ISCA started strongly, piling on the pressure and were awarded a short corner. The Oke defence of Carol Taylor, Nicola Stoneman, Kim Davey and Sophie Whiteley stood up to the challenge and cleared the ball. Player of the match Jo Moppett quickly broke through the ISCA players to slot the ball away for her first to make the score 1-0.
ISCA battled through but a quick pass from Hannah Whiteley to Moppett made the score 2-0. After a series of mistakes from ISCA, Okehampton were rewarded with short corners — Moppett converting both and leaving the score at 4-0 at half time.
Okehampton ran out hungry for more. Straight from the push back, quick accurate passing between Davey and Moppett led the former to smash the ball into the back of the net from a sharp angle. ISCA persevered and goalie Alice Wiseman had to make several crucial saves.
Anna Speak and Sophia Marshall played really well creating space on the wings, passing the ball to Jess Medland and then onto Moppett, who crossed the ball to a waiting Hannah Whiteley on the post to touch into the goal.
ISCA were finally rewarded with a goal, despite the best efforts of Laura Parsons and Nicky Pedrick, making the score 6-1 at the final whistle.
